Alix
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Alix, or more correctly The Adventures of Alix is a popular French comic book series drawn in the Ligne claire style, by one of the ligne claire greats, Jacques Martin. When he gave up drawing, the books passed on to an assistant, who now produces the books. It was first published in Tintin magazine, in 1948 and later the stories were produced as books. So far, 24 books have been released, with a 25th coming out soon. The books are published by Casterman, the same people who produce The Adventures of Tintin by Hergé, and it falls under the Franco-Belgian comics group.
The stories revolve around a Gaulish boy called Alix who lives in Roman times, and the stories are considered very historically accurate. This was due to meticulous research, something taught to Jacques Martin by Hergé.

[edit] Publication into English
As is common with Franco-Belgian comics, such as with Blake and Mortimer, and Yoko Tsuno, the comics have had little publication into English. Only two titles have ever been published in English, and today are rather rare - 'The Sacred Helmet' and 'The Black Claw'.
