Ali Abdeh came to Iran from the United States and was a championship boxer. He founded Persepolis Sports Club in 1963, which is made up of a basketball team, bowling team, volleyball team and now a football team, Persepolis FC.

Persepolis FC today is one of the most successful Iranian football clubs, and has not only the largest fan base in Iran but in Asia.
