Talk:Alfred Tsang/Comments
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bad article, Saklaoui is misspelt Saklawi, and Tsang was never leader of the Unity Party, as is the statement in the final line.
Also makes no mention of the off duty police officer would was working with others to bribe Tsang, then blackmailing him into stepping aside from the Mayor position, so that the corrupt developers could install a Labor Party mayor.
If you look at page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Abi-Saab on John Abi Saab it states” It is alleged that Abi-Saab was involved in an elaborate plot to unseat the Mayor of Strathfield, Alfred Tsang by conspiring to blackmail Tsang with a video recording of Mr Tsang receiving a cash bribe.”
Further: “ICAC [Independent Commission Against Corruption] concluded that Abi-Saab's blackmail attempt was carried out following two Mayoral Minutes Mr Tsang brought to Council in June and July 2004 which recommended removing proposed zoning changes and planned increases to floor space ratios in Strathfield South. The passing of the two Mayoral Minutes adversely affected the interests of a number of developers including Mr Saklaoui and Anne Bechara, both associates of Abi-Saab.”
Seems that a corrupt Unity Party mayor was not as attractive to bent developers, and police, as a labor party mayor would be.
Seems also that the article on Tsang doesn’t reflect these facts.
