Alfred Sommer (aerospace engineer)

Alfred (Al) Sommer is an Aerospace engineer, who was born in New York City near Yankee Stadium in 1934. He did his undergraduate work at the University of Pennsylvania in Mineral Engineering and his graduate work in Material Science at Columbia University.

Al worked in the Aerospace field for Rockwell International before starting to work at Del West Engineering in 1974. In 1979, he acquired a majority interest in Del West and continues with that interest as the president and CEO today.

Al is the father of 2 children, Connie Sommer and Mark Sommer, and lives in the Pacific Palisades in Southern California.
