Alfonso I of Kongo

Alfonso I of the Kongo Empire, also called Nzinga Mbemba, was a devout Catholic African King. He was a son of King Nzinga and protested against injustice between Africans and Europeans. He assumed the throne in 1506. After his death, the Church did not thrive in the Congo.
