Alfonso D'Artega

Alfonso D'Artega was born in Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico, on June 5, 1907. He arrived in the USA with his parents in the year 1918.

D'artega was educated in music and composition by Boris Levenson, who was a pupil of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. D'artega became a famed music composer, and played the role of Tchaikovsky in the 1947 production "Carnegie Hall". He joined ASCAP in 1946. He is perhaps most easily recognizable as being the arranger of "The NBC Chimes Theme".
