[edit] Welcome

Hello, welcome to Wikipedia.

Here are some tasks you can do:

You might find these links helpful in creating new pages or helping with the above tasks: How to edit a page, How to write a great article, Naming conventions, Manual of Style. You should read our policies at some point too.

If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. If you made any edits before you got an account, you might be interested in assigning those to your username. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian!

  • You can sign your name using three tildes, like this: ~~~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.

Again, welcome! - UtherSRG 18:10, 16 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Hi - thanks for your photos. Have you released them into the public domain or under the GFDL? I'll tag them appropriatly for you. Being "sad", we'd love a picture of a new nottingham tram if you have one ;) Secretlondon 12:22, 14 Mar 2004 (UTC)

The way to communicate is to leave a message on people's talk pages - so from their user page click discuss this page. We are trying to tag images so that people can find public domain and gfdl images easily. I've added {{msg:PD}} to your two images - this is displayed as:

Public domain This file has been released into the public domain by the copyright holder, its copyright has expired, or it is ineligible for copyright. This applies worldwide.
Warning sign Note: This tag is deprecated! Please use instead:
  • {{PD-old}} (for works out of copyright where the author has been dead for over 100 years),
  • {{PD-art}} (for photos of old paintings),
  • {{PD-ineligible}} (for trivial work),
  • {{PD-USGov}} (for work by the U.S. government),
  • {{PD-US}} (for work that is public domain for the U.S. only),
  • {{PD-self}} (if the uploader releases the rights),
  • {{PD-user|user}} (if another user released his/her rights).
  • If the work is PD for another reason, check the copyright tag page or use {{PD-because|reason}}.

If you want more info on image tags look at Wikipedia:Image Tag Team.

As for the tram, it opened this week. I was presuming that you were still in Nottingham. As you're not, never mind. Secretlondon 12:49, 14 Mar 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Sustainability category/project/series

Hi. I noticed you have worked on the Sustainability page. There has been, as you might expect, a little heat recently at the Hubbert Peak page, and some of us are discussing ways we might better organize the information about energy sources and developments. Articles/subjects that we are discussing the organization/hierarchy of include Hubbert Peak, Energy development, Sustainability, Future energy development, Alternatives to oil. It occurred to me that you might have some fresh ideas about how to go about organizing a rational hierarchy, whether it be a project, a system of categories, a series, or simply an informal vision. Please give your input at the bottom of Talk:Hubbert Peak. Tom - Talk 17:23, Dec 16, 2004 (UTC)

  • Hello, I am the crazy one who came up with the voting system at the bottom of Talk:Hubbert Peak, but I would like you to know, I have created a project page, which will eventually be renamed. That said, I invite you and others to join the project and begin editing the page, I started the page, but there has to be active discussion about the contents There still are the talk pages, to-do list, review board pages, and forums to set up. I invite you to come along and help at: Wikipedia:WikiProject Energy Related Development by Civilizations. Ignore the inuse sign, thats just a greeting. --[[User:Ctrl build|User:Ctrl_buildtalk ]] 19:40, 25 Dec 2004 (UTC) <--Have to fix this.

[edit] Intresting Ayyavazhi Family

Hai Alex, there are intresting articles about Ayyavazhi, a new religion on both mythology and religiosity. Wikipedia is rich with this topic in English, but poor in other languages. Since french is a leading language in Wikipedia it is better to translate the contents on this AYYAVAZHI family to french. - Paul Raj

[edit] Request for Help

Hello there. I am Thor Malmjursson, a user of the English and German wikipediæ. I am translating and completing articles on a little green cartoon dragon called Tabaluga. I recently found out that there was a stage show of Tabaluga in Catalan, and I want to request a translation of the English Tabaluga page, onto the Catalan wikipedia, but I do not speak the language. Could I please ask for your assistance in making this request for me? It would be much appreciated. Thor Malmjursson 14:55, 15 January 2006 (UTC) Talk to me Diskussion
