[edit] Longest non-Medical Word
For the record, the word is "Hippopotamonstrasesquipedeliophobia". And it is only the longest by virtue of having the most ridiculous Greek prefix ever ("Hippopotamonstra-" ~ "really, really"). —Cuiviénen, 01:08, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- Hippopotomonstosesquipedliophobia has been proposed for deletion. Please see WP:WINAD for relevant guidelines and improve the article if possible. NickelShoe 05:07, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Admins
Admins, or administrators, or sysops (system operators), are certain Wikipedians who are selected by the community to gain certain extra privileges. Those privileges, including the ability to delete pages, to protect pages from editing and to block and ban abusive users, are used to maintain the Wikipedia project. For more information, see WP:ADMIN. —Cuiviénen, Thursday, 23 March 2006 @ 20:41 (UTC)

Please stop nominating articles for deletion simply because you find the articles offensive. Thanks. JoshuaZ 20:35, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome to Esperanza!
Welcome, Alethiophile, to Esperanza! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.
Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.
In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Proposals.
I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of JoanneB, Freakofnurture and Titoxd. The next set of elections will be in June, and you are more than welcome to take part, by voting or by listing yourself as a candidate.
If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Celestianpower by email or talk page or the Esperanza talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, you may find help at an IRC Tutorial. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!
Cheers! Sango123 (e) 19:11, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
- I think Sango123's welcome above has answered the question you left on my talk page. If not, feel free to ask me about something specific. —CuiviénenT|C, Sunday, 21 May 2006 @ 23:24 UTC

[edit] Blnguyen's RfA
Hello Alethiophile. Thank you for your support and gracious comment at my request for adminship which ended at the overwhelming and flattering result of (160/1/0), and leaves me in a position of having to live up to a high standard of community expectation. You can see me in action and observe what then happened as a result. If you need admin assistance, feel free to ask me. Naturally, if I make any procedural mistakes, feel free to point them out. I look forward to working with you in the future, hopefully as an admin. Enjoy your Colorado summer. Blnguyen | Have your say!!! 03:14, 31 May 2006 (UTC) |
- Hello Alethiophile. If you look at the link in his signature, it will show that he is User:Anwar saadat but signs as Anwar. This is because his real name resembles Anwar Sadat, a president of Egypt back in the 1970s who was assassinated by a group called the Muslim Brotherhood because he did a peace deal with Israel. You can see all the stuff there, and also in the archives of WP:AN/I and WT:INWNB. Blnguyen | Have your say!!! 01:39, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Transclusion
Yo. Thanks for reading my proposal on the user space. For your information, "transclusion" is the act of referencing and rendering an included template in a document. It's the most correct term for how our template system works. It's a wiggy word for a wiggy way of doing things. Also, Ceiling Cat is watching you... Happy editing! - Corbin Be excellent 04:23, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
Oh, sorry. Um, transclusion is when you include a template by brackets, like {{welcome}}. Later! - Corbin Be excellent 20:44, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Thank you very much for your support on my recent RfA. I am pleased to announce that it passed with a tally of 72/11/1, and I am now an administrator. I'll be taking things slowly at first and getting used to the tools, but please let me know if there are any admin jobs I can do to help you, now or in the future. —Cuiviénen 02:24, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A short Esperanzial update
As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.
As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.
Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Hello! Noticed you joined WikiPlomacy. Hope you enjoy yourself! Just a note, I suggest adding to your territory list and your resources, as such you are quite underdeveloped and a target for attack (by me...umm no!...just kidding...hehe...I mean...totally not). But anyway, enjoy yourself! DoomsDay349 20:46, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Hey again. Would you mind serving as a juror in my trial? We really need you. Thanks! DoomsDay349 21:04, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikiplomacy
Hey Aleth, regarding your talkpage, as Wikiplomacy is gone, would you be ok with me deleting your user subpage on the topic? I understand all this stuff is moving to another wiki or something, with existing pages being MfD'd - it's simpler to avoid the paperwork involved in that if you're ok with it. --Improv 07:02, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- I'm fine with that, provided you let me copy over the data first. AlethiophileAsk me why 19:27, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] RE:Coffee Lounge MFD
Not only was there a large consensus to delete on the MFD page, but on the overhaul page. Now the next step is to discover what to do with the coffee lounge. Again, look at the Overhaul page for plans and propositions. If the coffee lounge was the only thing that attracted you to Esperanza, or Wikipedia in general, than I suggest that you reconsider your priorities. DoomsDay349 20:12, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- About civility, I was being civil, if I came across as cold or harsh it was not intended. All my responses can't be silver-tongued masterpieces :). If you really want, request undeletion, though I doubt it'll be granted. Instead, I would move on and discuss the next step on the overhaul page. DoomsDay349 22:44, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
I concur with what DoomsDay349 said. If even Esperanzians agree to delete the Coffee lounge, there is no point in keeping it around anymore (somewhat like a {{db-author}} request? :-) ). If you want to appeal my deletion, you can do so on deletion review although judging from what I saw from the Coffee lounge overhaul page, the majority don't want the old one kept.
