Alexandria is a village in Thayer County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 216 at the 2000 census.

Alexandria is located at 40°14′44″N, 97°23′19″W (40.245608, -97.388724)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²), all land.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 216 people, 99 households, and 53 families residing in the village. The population density was 208.5/km² (539.9/mi²). There were 110 housing units at an average density of 106.2/km² (275.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 99.54% White, and 0.46% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.85% of the population.

There were 99 households out of which 24.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.4% were married couples living together, 7.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 45.5% were non-families. 40.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 26.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.18 and the average family size was 2.94.

In the village the population was spread out with 27.3% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 17.6% from 25 to 44, 24.1% from 45 to 64, and 23.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 84.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.9 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $22,083, and the median income for a family was $29,583. Males had a median income of $21,750 versus $17,750 for females. The per capita income for the village was $11,988. About 20.4% of families and 25.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 38.6% of those under the age of eighteen and 31.0% of those sixty five or over.
