Alexander Wright (football player)

Alexander Wright (born July 19, 1967) is a former NFL wide receiver.

Wright was drafted in the second round of the 1990 NFL draft by the Dallas Cowboys with the 26th overall pick. Along with playing wide receiver, Wright would also return kicks for the Dallas Cowboys on special teams. He twice returned a kickoff for a touchdown during his stint with the Cowboys. His best season came during the 1994 season with the Los Angeles Raiders (now the Oakland Raiders) when he caught 27 passes for 462 yards. Wright was also one of the fastest players in the NFL, twice winning the NFL's fastest man competition. He has reportedly run the 40-yard sprint in 4.09 seconds. Wright played his final two seasons with the St. Louis Rams, and then he retired in 1996.

He played college football for Auburn. While at Auburn, he caught 56 passes for 1,320 yards and 11 touchdowns from 1986 to 1989. He holds an Auburn record with 23.6 yards per reception. Currently, Wright is the offensive coordinator for Southwestern Assemblies of God University. He preveiously served in the same position at Greensboro College. Prior to that he worked as the outside receiver's coach for West Texas A&M University.

Wright has a bachelor's degree from Auburn as well as a master's degree from Lindenwood University.
