Alexander Severance
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Alexander G. Severance (June 3, 1905 – April 1, 1985) was a college men's basketball coach. Severance graduated from Villanova in 1929.
He coached the Villanova University team for 25 seasons (1936-1961), compiling a 413-201 (.673) record overall. Among his former players is Hall of Fame member Paul Arizin.
In a touch of irony, aged 79, Severance passed away on the day that Villanova defeated Georgetown for the national championship.
