Alexander M. Poniatoff

Alexander Mikhailovich Ponyatov (Александр Михайлович Понятов) (1906-1980), engineer. In 1927, he emigrated from Russia to the US, where he founded the Ampex company. In 1956, engineers of Ampex created the world's first videotape recorder.
