Alexander Karaman

Alexander Karaman (born in Slobozia) is a Transnistrian politician. He was the vice-president of Transnistria from 1990 to 2001.

Karaman was instrumental in Transnistria's declaration of independence on September 2, 1990, and held the vice-presidency since that date.

On March 25, 2002, he was appointed Transnistrian ambassador to Russia and Belarus but both countries refused to accredit him due to a lack of formal diplomatic relations with Transnistria.

Karaman is an ethnic Moldovan.
