Alexander G. von Bunge

Alexander Georg von Bunge (September 29, 1803 – June 7, 1890) was German-Russian zoologist. In Russian he is known as Aleksandr Andreevich von Bunge (Александр Андреевич Фон Бунге). He was a botany professor at Tartu University, and was director of the department from 1842 until 1844.
He undertook many scientific expeditions into Asia and especially Siberia.
A crater on Mars was named after him.
