Alexander "Alex" Frolov (born on 19 June 1982 in Moscow, Russia) is a professional ice hockey player who currently plays for the Los Angeles Kings.

[edit] Career

Frolov was drafted in the first round (20th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft draft by the Los Angeles Kings. Alexander Frolov made his NHL debut in 2002 for the Kings, scoring his first NHL goal in his seventh game on 25 October 2002.

Frolov became a restricted free agent before the 2005-06 NHL season, and he and the Kings had initial diffuculties in agreeing on a new contract. He then signed a one-year contract with Avangard Omsk of the RSL, the league in which he played durng the 2004-05 NHL lockout, saying that he would most likely go on to spend the 2005-06 season playing in Russia. However, about a month later, he signed a 5 year, $14.5 million contract with the Kings.

During the Kings' 8-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on November 13, 2005, Frolov scored the first hat-trick of his NHL career.

Frolov was named to Russia's 2006 Men's Ice Hockey team for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. During a round-robin game versus Kazakhstan, he suffered a partially separated shoulder and missed the rest of Russia's games during the Olympics. He also missed 10 of the Kings' games once the NHL season resumed.
