The Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 is a double-decker bus built by Alexander Dennis from late 2005. It is designed as the replacement of the Dennis Trident chassis/Alexander ALX400 body in the UK.

The Enviro 400 was designed by TransBus International until its collapse and reformation as Alexander Dennis. The Enviro 400, like the other products in the Enviro range, is an integral, but the body is also available on the Volvo B7TL or Volvo B9TL chassis for sale in the UK market.

London operator Metroline was the first company to order the Enviro 400, with the first of 28 entering service in January 2006. One dual door demonstrator, named "Spirit of London", was delivered to Stagecoach London to replace the Dennis Trident destroyed during 7 July 2005 London bombings and a single door demonstrator has been delivered to Travel West Midlands for evaluation. Both prototypes were exhibited at "Coach & Bus Live 2005" in the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, UK and then entered service in January 2006. Metroline, Travel West Midlands and the Stagecoach Group were large customers of the Dennis Trident.

Alexander Dennis secured its first large group order for the Enviro 400 in February 2006, with the Stagecoach Group purchasing 130, which forms the bulk of the group's 2006 double-deck requirement (the remaining 30 being of the older ALX400 design) and appearing to be the new Stagecoach standard double-deck vehicle.

In May 2006, London General received the first Enviro 400 which met the Euro IV emission standard.

On 13 October 2006, Solent Blue Line received the first Enviro 400 ever built on a Volvo chassis - away from the trend of Enviro 400s being built on the Alexander Dennis chassis. It was delivered as a Volvo B7TL/Enviro 400 meeting the Euro III emission standard, with the interior done in Wilts and Dorset livery.
