[edit] Entrance

Alex was born in Belarus. He entered the soap as the parent of Rachel and Zeke, both attending Erinsborough High. When he learned that Paul Robinson was going to be teaching his children, he wanted something done about this. He approached Susan Smith and asked that something be done. Susan refused to do anything, so Alex threatened to take his children out of the school so he could home school them - he was a university professor, and his late wife Francesca home-schooled them.

[edit] The Cancer

Alex was diagnosed with Angioimmunoblastic T-Cell Lymphoma, a rare acute idiopathic form of leukaemia, by Dr. Karl Kennedy, and was told he had only months to live. This made him hesitant in wanting to propose to Susan, but he eventually did. While he was still accepting the fact that he was dying, he turned to Jonathan Verne - the same man that Steph Hoyland went to a few years before after her first diagnosis of breast cancer - for alternative treatments, until Jonathan was arrested by Stuart Parker and Alex was made aware of his dark past as a con.

[edit] The Engagement

It was later discovered that Alex had an ulterior motive when he proposed to Susan, as much as he loved her, he was "securing a mother" for his children when he died.

[edit] The Marriage

Shortly before marrying Susan, Katya was found by Rachel and Zeke and at first refused to go with the children but follow them home to Susan's house. Alex and Katya get some stuff off their chest before the wedding. Within a couple of hours after the wedding, Alex died with Susan at his side in Susan's loungeroom.
