Alexander Max Band (born June 8, 1981) is the singer in the Los Angeles band The Calling. Alex is half-Jewish and was raised Jewish.[1]

The band has released two albums, Camino Palmero (the album featuring the hit single "Wherever You Will Go", as well as the less popular "Adrienne", and "Could It Be Any Harder"), and Two (which features the songs "Our Lives", "Things will go my Way" and "Anything", which in the video, features his wife, actress Jennifer Sky).

His father is the low-budget horror film director Charles Band and as a kid, he hung around Demi Moore who was in his father's earlier films. His family owns a castle in Giove, Italy.

Alex's voice was used on 'The Tonight Show With Jay Leno' after Leno called and he and Alex spoke over the phone. Band was also featured on a single with legendary guitarist Carlos Santana titled "Why Don't You and I". Originally, Chad Kroeger wrote and sang on "Why Don't You & I" for Santana's Shaman. However, when Arista decided to release the song as a single in Summer 2003, Kroeger's record label, Roadrunner, refused permission, citing concerns that Kroeger appearing on a "high-profile single" would compromise the excitement over Nickelback's Fall 2003 release, The Long Road. Kroeger is the one that recommended The Calling's Alex Band, another Arista Records artist, as a replacement for re-recording the single.

Band has recently announced his plans to follow a solo career, putting The Calling on hiatus for a while. He has written songs for his debut solo album, and plans to tour in 2007 to support the album. Whilst his tour will feature new material, he has also confirmed that The Calling's material will still feature.

He is married to an actress, Jennifer Sky. The ceremony took place on 24 July 2004.
