Slickheads or nakedheads are a family, Alepocephalidae, of osmeriform fishes. They are deep-water fishes most common below 1,000 m. They are native to the eastern Atlantic, western Indian and eastern and western Pacific Oceans. They get their name from the lack of scales on the head.

The scientific name is from Greek alepos meaning "lacking scales" and kephale meaning "head".
