Aleksey Apukhtin

Aleksey Apukhtin (Russian: Алексей Апухтин, 1840-1893) was a minor Russian poet and writer, prominent figure in St. Petersburg gay milieu of the time. He was a lifelong friend of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (they were both educated at the School of Jurisprudence in St. Petersburg) and a lover of his brother Modest Tchaikovsky. Tchaikovsky wrote music for six of his poems.
