Alec Baillie
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Alec Baillie is an American bassist currently located in Sacramento, California. He is the brother of artist Liz Baillie and a good friend of the Stza. Alec grew up in New York City and attended the same High School as Scott "Stza" Sturgeon. Stza and Baillie formed a short lived punk band called No Commercial Value. He later joined Stza's band Choking Victim after the depture of bassist Sascha Scatter. He played in Choking Victim from 1995-1997, when he was replaced by Shayne. Stza has implied that Alec's depture from Choking Victim was related to Alec's drug addiction. He later joined Stza's band Leftover Crack, which he is currently a member of. Baillie maintains a myspace profile which reveals some information about his private life. He is apparently romantically involved with a woman by the name of Angela. He claims to enjoys "Rockin' out, snowboarding, playing craps, riding my bike and hangin' out with my chick." Although Leftover Crack's frontmen Stza and Ezra are both militant atheists and drug users, according to Baillie's myspace page he does not smoke nor drink and is an Agnostic. His "About Me" section states: "I grew up in New York City on East 25th Street in Manhattan. I went to Catholic school all my life until 11th grade when they kicked me out for setting off smoke bombs in school (amongst other offenses). After that I started playing bass in bands such as No Commercial Value, Agent 99, Choking Victim and most recently Leftover Crack. I've spent the last few years mostly on tour and now live in Northern California with my girlfriend, Angela, her 2 huge obnoxious whiny dogs, and my cat, Kitten. I presently work as a bartender in downtown Sacramento. P.S. I don't usually add or respond to messages from people that I don't know, so don't be offended if I ignore you, or do be offended if you so desire."
Stza gave an interview to Alternative Tentacles, describing Leftover Crack's history.
During the interview, Stza also described his first meeting with Baillie: "In 1990, Alec meets the Stza (pronounced "Stizza") at their N.Y.C. public high school. They shared not only a love for punk and ska music, but also an intense hatred of white people and their pathetic milk-drinking, Gap-wearing, R.E.M. listening, 90210 watching culture along with a healthy disdain for authority and the wicked atrocities perpetrated by the U.S. government. Alec played bass and the Stza played guitar and sang, so they decided to join-up and play some music together."
