[edit] Howards military service

Your edit on Howards hypocrisy to national service is very well crafted. But I warn you there may be a lot of oppostion to its presence. I will support you if others choose to wipe it. 128.250.99.135 00:43, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

Was your aim also to paint Howard as a hypocrite, or is that 128.250.99.135's intention alone? Andjam 06:03, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Hi Albatross2147,

I noticed you reverted the citation needed thingo which is fair enough. Given that to prove the somewhat bleeding obvious is nearly as hard as proving a negative can you wait a bit before striking out the alleged PoV statement?

A little bit, but not too long.

Also at the risk of entering into a bitter ploemic (which I certainly don't want to do) I would be interested to know exactly what your objection is to the statement that in the 1960s he was a supporter of both NS and Aust's participation in the Vn War. I don't see how it could have been otherwise.

Well, people have made mistakes before. For example this rant claims that Family First were presumably "into the Iraq war like a rat up a drainpipe" when the policy platform was that they disapproved of the invasion. (I sent them an email in December 2004, and they're yet to correct the statement) The article originally talked about Howard "vociferously" supporting the war, which is hardly NPOV language. Even if he weren't in favour of the war and conscription, he may have decided to stay silent to avoid giving the North Vietnamese comfort. Frankly, I'm a bit tired of "fake but accurate" attitude some people have. Andjam 06:03, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Even though we suspect it, we can't assume that he did hold the same views as his party without evidence, nor does add much to talk about the views of his party as evidence of his own inconsistency. For eg, after the Vietnam war the Liberal party decided that South Vietnamese who had assisted the Australian forces should be evacuated. There was only one minister who wanted to leave them behind in the hands of the North Vietnamese. Guess who. Regards, Ben Aveling 07:27, 27 January 2006 (UTC) PS. I did manage to find a quote for you.

So long as it's from a reliable NPOV source, well ... I still wouldn't exactly be thrilled about the inclusion, given that one person wanted it included in order to paint Howard as a hypocrite. But if it's got a good citation, I won't try to get the section removed unless other people worry about how notable it is. Andjam 08:01, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

All depends on how it's used, really. Same as any other fact. Regards, Ben Aveling 08:32, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] AWB

Either a separate articles or dividing the existing article into clear sections (like the history section of the Opera Australia article) seems to make sense to me.John Dalton 21:52, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

I'll attempt to get a new article completed - apparently it all has to be finished with citations and no typos prior to posting; otherwise it will be speedily deleted... The new article will be more thorough and less speculative in accordance with grievances aired in the debate which took place *after* deletion rather than before. -pa

It was speedily deleted, which means that it does not have to undergo WP:AFD. enochlau (talk) 14:56, 27 January 2006 (U

[edit] Alan Jones

I have removed the article Alan Jones from the "List of GLBT people" category. If Alan Jones hasn't specifically stated in public that he belongs within this category, then it is not for us to put him in such a category based upon mere rumour and innuendo. - Mark 02:06, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

I'm sorry you feel that way about my action there. I am merely cautioning against presenting something as fact when we don't know for sure that it is. In my opinion, it is still perfectly legitimate to discuss the gay claims within the text of the article. I don't feel this is censorship, since I haven't removed from the article the talk about these allegations. - Mark 02:37, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Homebush Boys High School

Your Post: This has been majorly vandalised again. Are you in a position to revert easily? Albatross2147 22:47, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

  • My Response: I've reverted the vandalism. Cheers! --NMChico24 23:07, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

Indef blocked. It was good of you to revert his vandalism, BTW. Indeed, here's a barnstar:

[edit] User talk page messages

Hi Albatross2147,

I only just noticed your "re John Howard Talk" section on my talk page (not that it is a big issue, as the issues have been mentioned in the article talk page). I typically only look at the bottom of my user talk page, so if you have any further messages, can you start a new section unless there's an existing section near the bottom of the page? Thanks, Andjam 11:58, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Minor Edits

Remember to mark your edits as minor when, but only when, they genuinely are (see Wikipedia:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one, or vice versa, is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb, is that an edit of a page that consists of spelling corrections, formatting, and minor rearranging of text should be flagged as a 'minor edit'. DXRAW 01:00, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Newington Headmasters

Why not list all Headmasters of Newington and remain neutral by not using the weasel word distinguished but describing there term of office. I believe Sydney Grammar has a list of all Headmasters.

[edit] NSW School Certificate

Sorry about that i misread your edit. DXRAW 12:37, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Newington College Industrial Dispute

Dear Albatross

Would you please have a look at this disputed column and give an opinion by reading the citations and external links - or better still write a new article. It appears to be badly written, repetitious, and lacking neutrality. As it is a current dispute surely it should be no more than a paragraph with links to reputable reports. I would appreciate your opinion.Aagps 03:40, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fairfield High School, NSW

Hi Albatross2147, I've blocked the most recent offender. If the vandalism starts up again, let me know and I can protect the page. Cheers -- Samir धर्म 01:02, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Belated thanks

Thank you for participating in my RfA. Consensus to promote was reached, and I am now an administrator. I'll be using the tools cautiously at first, and everyone should feel welcome to peer over my shoulder and make sure I'm not doing anything foolish. --RobthTalk 04:17, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Greeny in the bible belt

Hey mate. Fellow Greeny here. I don't know if you're religious or not, but I do know you live in a very conservative part of Sydney. Are you a member of a local branch down your way? Dankru 07:26, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Memo

Memo to self - stop trying to be fair.

NPOV is non-negotiable. Thanks, Andjam 12:14, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

This is regarding the article and talk pages of John Howard. Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not add unreferenced negative information to biographies of living persons, as you did to John Howard. Thank you. Andjam 11:59, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

You don't have to be an admin to give a warning. You only have to be one to block someone. Andjam 03:48, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
I said that the statement is uncited. And it was. And I haven't been pushing a Point Of View about Howard. Whereas you have openly expressed your intention to do so. Andjam 03:01, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Regarding your edits at John Howard, it seems that you have some personal recollections of Howard's behaviour at Vietnam rallies in the 60s. Why not take it to a journalist (you know, like an ex-Media Watch host who seems to like researching Howard's history) rather than put it on Wikipedia, where I'm not sure it really belongs. Rocksong 04:58, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

This is for persisting to add uncited material to John Howard.

You have made an edit to John Howard that could be regarded as defamatory. Please do not restore this material to the article or its talk page. If you do, you may be blocked for disruption. See the blocking policy. Andjam 10:16, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

You have made an edit to John Howard that could be regarded as defamatory. Please do not restore this material to the article or its talk page. If you restore this material to the article or its talk page once more, you will be blocked for disruption. See Blocking policy: Biographies of living people. Andjam 11:28, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Everything that is in a wikipedia article should be supported by a reference to a reliable source. Even if it's to say that water is wet, or that the sun rises in the east. Thanks, Andjam 11:42, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

If it is of biographical significance, then a reliable source would have noted it by now. Don't use wikipedia as a soapbox. As for the sun rising in the east ... it's regrettable that it's currently unreferenced, but at least someone has tagged the article as needing references. Andjam 12:12, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

I've never thought of you as a looney, merely as a Greens supporter. There is a slight difference. (What in particular were you referring to?) Andjam 13:36, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

I may not be able to have a decent look at the question about the VC project in a timely manner. Andjam 11:16, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Schools

I don't think schools are inherently notable (I also disgree that all highways are notable, but I can't do anything about that). If you see an article about pastors or anything/one you feel are not notable, then just nominate them for deletion. Edgecution 00:36, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Civility on school articles
