AlbumTown

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

AlbumTown is an image hosting service.

AlbumTown is free, but also has incentives to encourage "power users" to upgrade. These features include priority support, additional space, and access to exclusive features. AlbumTown implements Ajax for premium users. Becoming one of the first photo hosts to integrate Ajax, was one move that arguably attributed to the overwhelming support from the blogging community.

The site is designed for both amateurs and professionals. Amateur photographers are able to use AlbumTown to store personal photos with options to set photos private or public, allow comments, and contact friends. Professional photographers can use AlbumTown's special purpose accounts to increase online sales. For example, AlbumTown works seamlessly with eBay to assist eBay sellers. Ebay sellers can upload auction photos and AlbumTown will automatically retrieve information from eBay regarding the product, including up-to-date pricing and shipping information. The AlbumTown special purpose account enables sellers to create a brandable homepage in which they can attract potential customers. The special purpose accounts have been used by thousands and have been mentioned in several noteworthy trade publications for eBay sellers.
