Albrechtsburg

The Albrechtsburg is the castle that dominates the city centre of Meißen, Germany. This castle, the masterpiece of Arnold von Westfalen, was constructed in the 15th Century as a residence, not as a military fortress, the first German castle for that purpose. The castle, while designed mostly in the late Gothic style had elements of the Renaissance. Meißen porcelain, the first fine European china was made in the castle the 1700's to the mid-1800's.
