Albrecht, Duke of Württemberg

Albrecht, Duke of Württemberg (Albrecht Maria Alexander Philipp Joseph of Württemberg) (December 23, 1865 - October 31, 1939) was a commander of the German Army in World War I in Belgium. He was promoted to Generalfeldmarschall in August 1916.
He was married in Vienna on the 24 January 1893 to Archduchess Margarete Sophie of Austria (1870-1902) a daughter of Archduke Carl Ludwig, they had six children:
- Philipp Albrecht, Duke of Württemberg (1893-1975)
- Duke Albrecht Eugen of Württemberg (1895-1954) married Princess Nadejda of Bulgaria (1899-1958), daughter of Tsar Ferdinand I. They had five children.
- Duke Karl Alexander of Württemberg (1896-1964)
- Duchess Maria Amalia of Württemberg (1897-1923)
- Duchess Maria Theresa of Württemberg (1898-1928)
- Duchess Margarita Maria of Württemberg (1902-1945)
He became head of the House of Württemberg on the death of the last King William II of Württemberg in 1921.
He died in Altshausen 29 October 1939 and was succeeded as head of the House of Württemberg by his eldest son Duke Philipp Albrecht.
