Albert LinyĆ¼fan Pluut (Born 30 June 1992)is known for his skiing and chess playing skills.
Skiing
He has won few championships only, but he is liked for his kindness towards other skiers/snowboarders and his braveness of making slopes that no one had dared before. He had a great balance in jumps, fast stops by thick snow and going down slopes of nearly 70 degrees down with rocks sticking out everywhere. The championships he did win were the ones by age group, when he was 7, he was put into the group of 15U (under 15). He won the championship every years he participated, the only cups he didn't win were the all age cup, he participated twice, at an age of 5 and at an age of 9. When he was 5, he ended fifth and when he was 9, he ended second, just after one of the best skiers at that time. The only other championship he didn't win was in februari 1996, at an age of three, his then 5-years old sister beat him. This was a race for ages up to 7 years old. He's a true Haider Alm hero, also being the only one left on the mountain when there was avalanche danger. He is also one of the youngest skiers that mountain has ever had. Over the last two years he hasn't been seen around.
Chess
Albert Pluut was also one of the best chess playings in the Netherlands. He won many tournaments at very young age. He started chess when he was 7 years old. Stopping when he was 12. 7 Years old was very old to still become such a good player. His greatest concurents all started at an age of three or four. He olny played very actively for five years. He first started in one of the lowest groups. The speed he moved up in is a record. Playing Zuid-Holland games in no time. When he won that at an age of 8, he started participating in national tournaments. His first was no success, he ended twelfth. Out of the 120 best of the Netherlands at that time to an age of 12. His next national tournament he ended fifth. Later that year he came second. And then he finally won in 2001, but in that tournament his strongest opponent Christov Kleijn didn't participate. In the end of 2001, he came third, after a mistake causing him to draw instead of win. In 2002 he played only one big tournament. He ended fourth, the best Dutch, the first place was taken by a German. Dissapointing Chrisov Kleijn only ended eighteenth. In 2003, he won all national tournaments he played, which were four if them. Three in his age group, beating rival Ruben s'Jacob all three times. One of his tournaments was in a higher group. Playing with people 2-3 years older than him, Albert Pluut won that too, and was being asked by many clubs to join them, but he stayed with Bobby Fischer Wassenaar. Where he played for many years. In 2004, he played his last tournament. He ended second after Ruben s'Jacob, because of a mistake. He said before the tournament it would be his last, still he was invited to play at the world championship chess 2004 for his age group, but he refused. Since then he hasn't been seen near any chess board. Most people said after his quit that he'd make Netherland's best chess player.
