Dr. Albert Joseph Simone is the current president of the Rochester Institute of Technology. He became president of RIT on September 1, 1992. Simone was previously president of the University of Hawaii System and chancellor of the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Tufts University, and a Ph.D in economics from MIT.

Simone was born in Boston, in December of 1935. From 1965 to 1969 Simone authored five books. On May 16th, 2006 he announced to the student body at RIT that he would be retiring in mid-2007.

During his time at the University of Hawaii Simone was known to wear socks that did not match.
