Al Minufiyah Governorate

Al Minufiyah (Arabic: المنوفية ) is one of the principal governorates of Egypt. It is in the north of the country (south of Gharbiyah and north of Cairo ) and its capital is Shibin el-Kom. The main towns are Quesna, Tala, Bagour, Menouf, Ashmoun and Sers el-Lyan. It's an agricultural governorate.
This governorate is known particularly for being the birthplace of two Egyptian presidents: Anwar Sadat (1918-1981, born in Mit Abul Kom) and Hosni Mubarak (1928- , born in Kafr-El Meselha). In addition, it is the homeland of the noted Egyptian filmmaker, Mostafa Youssef.
