Al Hayer Prison

Al Hayer Prison (Arabic: سجن الحاير) is a maximum-security prison in southeastern Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It is known for being used by the Saudi government to imprison and torture high profile criminals and terrorists, including many al-Qaeda followers and some Westerners, and others accused of opposing the government.
In 2003, 140 inmates, many of whom were associated with al-Qaeda, died in a huge fire in the prison.
