Al Asimah (Arabic: ألعاصمه ), also called Al Kuwayt is one of the six governorates of Kuwait, and consists of Kuwait's capital, Kuwait City, and the surrounding suburbs of Shuwaikh, Shamiya, Dahiya Abduallah al Salem, Dasma, Bnied Al-Gar, Nuzha, Fayha, Adiliya, Khaldiya, Yarmouk, Qurtoba (Qortuba), and Kaifan.
Al Asimah means "the capital" in Arabic. Al Asimah houses most of Kuwait's financial and business centres such as the Kuwait Stock Exchange.
