Al-Baghawi

Abu Muhammad Husayn b. Mas'ud ibn Muhammad al-Farra' Baghawi (435-516/1043-1122) was a Persian muhaddith (expert in hadith), trained in hadith and fiqh, a student of al-Husayn ibn Muhammad al-Marwa al-Rudi. He is most known for his major work, Masabih al-Sunnah.
Baghawî came from a small town between Herat and Marw ar-Rud called Bagh or Baghshûr (then in Persia).
