Aktuellt
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Aktuellt (literally: Current) is a newscast from Sveriges Television, broadcast twice a day on SVT2.
The first newscast at 18:00 is fifteen minutes long, and is the first long newscast of the evening. On weekdays it also contains a section on economic news, A-ekonomi. The second broadcast, at 21.00, is half an hour on weekdays and fifteen minutes at the weekends. It contains more features such as interviews and longer reports. There's also an edition called Lilla Aktuellt ("Current Little") targeted at children where current events are discussed in a educational and simplified manner. It airs twice a week.
The first edition of Aktuellt was broadcast on September 2, 1958, and was the first news programme in Sweden. With the start of TV2 in 1969, Aktuellt was taken off the air.
In 1972, Aktuellt started broadcasting again, twice a day at 18.00 and 21.00. In 2000 Aktuellt, Rapport, and SVT24 where merged into one central newsdesk, but the name "Aktuellt" is still used.
Since 1997 the 18.00 edition has been broadcast on SVT2, and the late edition was also moved to SVT2 on January 15, 2001.
