One more important thing about Akola Airport is that since it is listed under AAI.. It is listed on IATA maps and also on ICAO map. Following is the detailed information.
City: Akola, India and ICAO Code : VAAK and IATA Code : AKD It has Airport (Aerodrome, Airfield) having elevation: 999 ft (304 m) having 1 Runway (3985 × 145 ft )

Dude, its not right actually that you describe about its features that are almost gone or totally dysfunctional now. The thing I`d like to point out to readers is that the airport thats mentioned here is non-operational. There are no flights going in and out of the city. But its only used for special events related to aeromodelling ofcourse. And on other times, speed enthusiasts come to speed their vehicles here(since you cant really do that in the crowded and potholed roads) or learn to drive.
Yash Gupta.
Yash... Let me tell u something u really dont know or shud I say u have less knowledge about it, that I said Akola Airport is undertaken by AAI and its Reconstruction and operations work is going on. I agree that its non-operational and was just used for special events. But, from now onwards it will be under AAI safeguards and they will run it. And which other features r u saying that r almost gone...Plzz list them ??
