Akim Aliu (born April 24, 1989 in Okene, Nigeria) is an amateur ice hockey player. He currently plays for the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League. Aliu started his OHL career as a 2005 first-round pick of the Windsor Spitfires. Once in Windsor, he met feisty winger Steve Downie, the team's first-round pick in 2003. Downie had just been drafted to the Philadelphia Flyers, a team known for players being a bit on the rough-and-tumble side, including current Flyers general manager Bobby Clarke. Aliu and Downie had much tension between them from day one. Downie cross-checked Aliu at practice, and they even fought one another. However, it did not end there. Aliu and Downie got into another fight at practice, and this one was caught on tape.
