Akçakoca

Akçakoca is a town in Düzce Province, Turkey. It is located on the shore of the Black Sea about 200 km east of Istanbul, Turkey. The town is named after a Turkish chieftain of the 14th century CE who added the area to the Osmanli domain. There is a statue of Akçakoca Bey in the centre of the town and a modern mosque of very unusual architecture. Its touristic attractions are beaches and a small ruined castle. It is centre of an extensive region of cultivation of hazelnuts.
