[edit] 1000 AD

Thanks for the fix; I can never get it straight. — Xiong (talk) 02:36, 2005 Mar 26 (UTC)

[edit] HKWNB, HKCOTW, Current events

Hi. Thanks for your contributions to some Hong Kong-related articles. You might be interested to take a look at HK wikipedians' notice board, HK Collaboration of the Week and Current events in Hong Kong and Macao. Happy editing! — Instantnood 08:59, May 9, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Equilibrium Edit

By moving the Equilibrium page from "movie" to "film" the link now to Wikiquote has been messed up. This needs to be fixed and I'm not sure how. JenGe (talk) (16:19, 30 July 2005 (UTC)

Should be fixed now, sorry I didn't notice it at first >< Ajshm 16:24, 30 July 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, I just noticed that you fixed it while I was trying to figure it out myself. Thanks!! - JenGe (talk) (16:31, 30 July 2005 (UTC))

[edit] Serenity (movie)

Because you edited the Serenity (movie) page and moved it's TEXT to the new page at Serenity (film) the entire edit history has been lost. This is not permitted on Wikipedia. At the top of every article there is a move button. This moves the article, talk page, and edit history together to a new name - this is something you cannot do by the edits you have made. I have reverted Serenity (movie) and requested a move of name so an administrator can fix this mess. I don't know how new you are, but please have reservations before attempting serious edits to articles, and if it doubt you should ask someone who knows. Cheers — CuaHL 17:13, 1 August 2005 (UTC)

I know about the move button, but in this case it wasn't possible because the target page already existed. I didn't know about the move request template though, thanks for sorting it out. --Ajshm 17:55, 1 August 2005 (UTC)
Cool. It should get sorted now. I see what you did though, and I'm not opposing the move of the article or anything.. please understand. I agree with the move, it was just done incorrectly ;) — CuaHL 03:27, 2 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] X-Men 3 (movie)

I moved it back, seeing as the first film is located on (movie) not (film). And please discuss moves like this before making them. Havok 08:02, 12 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] "Movie" versus "film"

Hi, I see you have moved some entries on motion pictures from XXXXX (movie) to XXXXX (film). Please just don't do it, for two reasons: (1) for conformity's sake—it creates unnecessary confusion, with some people believing the two terms might mean different things (concerning the quality of the picture in question, for example); and (2) to avoid unnecessary double redirects (which take ages to fix).

A looong time ago it was decided to use the word "movie"; please let's stick to that.

All the best, <KF> 21:56, August 16, 2005 (UTC)

Please see Naming_conventions#Film_titles and Wikipedia:Naming conventions (films) before you move things. I moved pages to comform to the current naming convention, so please don't move them back. Thanks. --Ajshm 09:10, 17 August 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your message. I heavily oppose that new naming convention, which has been arrived at under the guise of a democratic poll. Giving thousands of contributors a fortnight at the beginning of the holiday season without publicizing such a major change properly and then wait for seven (seven!) people to cast their vote is beyond good or evil. I'm sorry if I have been the cause of more work for you, but I had no idea that that ridiculous move had even been proposed. As I already stated, it will mean many many hours of unnecessary and unpaid work for people like you who tend to stick to, and carry out, the rules. I myself certainly won't take part in the pointless project of renaming what must be thousands of film titles. Sorry again, good luck, and all the best, <KF> 10:27, August 17, 2005 (UTC)
I must say I agree with you that it has created lots of possibly unnecessary work and a huge backlog. Last week I went through Category:Films by country (save American films) and 2000-2008 in Category:Films by year and it has been a rather sisyphean task. I don't intent to continue, I have better things to do, let others worry about it. =P --Ajshm 11:29, 17 August 2005 (UTC)
While I'me here on other business, I'll just point out that there's something odd about one person insisting that a task not be carried out because it has been agreed upon by a small number of people. You don't get much smaller than one... --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 10:01, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Spoiler

I've checked the Templates page, and the Template:spoiler page itself, and nowehere does it say that the template must be placed below the heading; given that it's supposed to give ample warning, wouldn't it be better placed as soon as possible before the information in question? --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 10:01, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

I agree that it's usually placed under the relevant header, but sometimes that fails to provide sufficient warning; perhaps it would be worth discussing it at Template talk:Spoiler. (And thanks for the comment on my taste; I'm thinking of adding some more articles; I hope they don't change your opinion...) --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 09:21, 25 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Hongkonger

Many thanks for your excellent changes to the Hongkonger article. As you may have realised from the talk pages, I, and an anonymous user are having a bit of a discussion as to the use of unusual transliterations such as Hongkongyan and especially tsonggokyen. They are accurate in the sense that they resemble how they sound like when an English-language westerner reads the phrase. However, they suffer from a serious problem: They are extremely rare transliterations and are not found outside of Wikipedia. I feel that a transliteration that corresponded to an established pronunciation system would be more acceptable - i.e. proper Cantonese romanization. For now, I haven't changed it as I want to see whether you agree with my view or not - and I will accept whatever the majority proposes. --Mintchocicecream 19:32, 26 August 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for you reply. In any case I hope this can become COTW. --Mintchocicecream 23:50, 26 August 2005 (UTC)
The edits make the page significantly better; and the addition of the POV-section notice is really good. I have just made some changes again and have explained them in the Talk page.--Mintchocicecream 22:43, 28 August 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for removing the sections. I removed the POV tag now. By the way US should be U.S. according to Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#National_varieties_of_English and I changed that accordingly (or about to change it at time of writing!!!) --Mintchocicecream 13:46, 29 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Japanese Communist Party

First off , thank you for your welcome. As my guide to the world of Wikipedia , may I trouble you to look at the Japanese Communist Party article , which I suspect may have been vandalised , as a newbie I'm not sure what channels to follow with suspected vandalism nor am I confident as yet to challenge another user.Whilst seemingly trying to correct the articles POV to a neutral one 35.10.123.209 seems to be trying to remove one form of bias with another trying to remove anything that would show the JCP in a favourable light , including as what I see as legitimate NPOV descriptions . Whilst the articles original articles POV problems were obvious and could be taken with a pinch of salt . 35.10.123.209's bias has been made with stealth ,invisible unless you look at the article's history and betrayed in the article only by his or her snide remark about the JCP's "oddly named" youth arm .(Cetot 07:57, 29 August 2005 (UTC))

  • Thanks for the advice , and your time .Cetot 19:31, 30 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Halászlé

Hi, just to let you know that I moved the Halászlé article (since I don't know of other more famous fish soups, and since the recipe has so much spread to ex-Yu that it is considered national meal even there, although it's certainly from Hungarian cuisine) and expanded on it. You might wish to add few words on Hungarian customs about it. Regards, Duja 11:34, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Invitation to the Forgotten Realms project

Hi,

We are working on a Forgotten Realms Project to map Toril (mostly Faerûn, at the present). Since you contributed quite a lot on a Forgotten Realms-specific entry, I'd like to invite you to join the project, so we could improve the “Mapping the Realms” project.

The goal is to create a sort of World Factbook for the Realms. This means:

  • A consistent content
  • Use of templates
  • Entries should be limited to “sovereign places”: states and free cities, as well a moderately-inhabited place such as the Western Highlands.

On top of this, we also plan to cover Lost Empires, such as Pelvuria or Imaskar and, of course, Netheril

Main contributors are presently

If you know some other person who would be interested, feel free to forward the invitation!

Feel free to take a look. We hope to see you soon mapping the Realms with us! Reply to David Latapie 12:42, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Takashi Miike

Dear Ajshm,

Your revert of this article destroyed a lot of grammar and punctuation corrections I made to this article.

If you object to wikilinks within articles, please feel free to remove them. If you think it's a problem that a previous editor explained the pronunciation of his "given name Miike", please just delete the word "given". Pleae don't simply revert the article, which destroys both good and bad changes. (Thank you, though, for preserving the Japanese version of the subject's name.)

If you'd like to discuss this, please leave a note on my talk page. DrKinsey 04:46, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Fair-use images

Hello! I'm afraid that I've had to remove the images from your User page; fair-use images can be used (within certain limits) in articles, but Wikipedia guidelines are that they should be kept off User pages (see Wikipedia:Fair use). --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 19:50, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] HKCOTW

Flower of Hong Kong - Bauhinia Blakeana
Hong Kong Collaboration of the Week

The current HKCOTW is Hongkonger .
Please help improve it to featured article standard.
Every week, a Hong Kong-related topic, stub or nonexistent article is picked to be the HK Collaboration of the Week. The previous HKCOTW was History of bus transport in Hong Kong - see improvements.

This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Kazukitomokawa.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that your image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If your image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why your image was deleted. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 22:53, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Kojak.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Kojak.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 18:18, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Sonnychiba.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Sonnychiba.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Rao Shushi Article

Recently I attempted to cleanup the article Rao Shushi that you tagged in August, 2005 for cleanup and forgot about. I organized some of the information but it still needs work. After looking at your edit history and seeing your work on Japanese and Hong Kong articles, I thought you could help me work on the Rao Shushi article. Any help would be appreciated.
