AJPW World Junior Heavyweight Championship

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The AJPW World Junior Heavyweight Championship is the top singles title in All Japan Pro Wrestling's Junior Heavyweight division. With a legacy set by many great matches, the title's value is immensely high. It has existed since July 31, 1986. The title was created as a replacement to the former NWA International Junior Heavyweight Championship, which had been AJPW's top singles junior heavyweight title since 1982.

Although Pro Wrestling Illustrated and some other pundits and fans often refer to it as the PWF (Pacific Wrestling Federation) Junior Heavyweight Championship, the belt is neither billed as such in Japan nor possesses a PWF-belt design like the belts part of the Triple Crown or the Double Cup do. The belt uses the old NWA International belt design, merely replacing the word "International" with "World."
