This article is about Airport Station of the MTR, for the line of the same name, see Airport Express.

Airport (Traditional Chinese: 機場; Jyutping: gei1 coeng4; pinyin: jī cháng) was the western terminus station on Airport Express of Hong Kong's MTR, before the opening of the AsiaWorld-Expo station on 20 December 2005. It serves the Hong Kong International Airport. The station is integrated with the Passenger Terminal of the airport, and for the convenience of the travellers, no exit or entry gates are installed. Therefore, travellers can walk straight into the terminal building through the exit for their check-in procedures. (If they have not completed In-Town Check-in.) Ticket baskets are provided on the departure level for the travellers to dump their used tickets in. A souvenir shop is also found there.

[edit] Platforms

Departure Level

  • Platform 1: Airport Express to Asia World-Expo

Platform 1 is where travellers going towards the airport get off. Passengers can also travel to AsiaWorld-Expo near the airport. Currently, an extra platform is being constructed on the opposite of the existing platform to allow for future access to Skyplaza, that is currently under construction.

Arrival Level

  • Platform 2: Airport Express to Hong Kong

The Airport Express is inarguably the fastest method of getting to the Hong Kong City Centre from the Airport. Travellers can walk directly from the Arrivals Halls to Platform 2 of Airport Station for the train to Tsing Yi, Kowloon and Hong Kong.

[edit] Entry Gates

Although no entry gates are provided at the Airport Station, travellers must still buy tickets from the ticket machines located in the Arrivals Hall or on platform 1 of the airport before boarding the train. Otherwise, they may not be able to get out through the exit gates at AsiaWorld-Expo, Tsing Yi, Kowloon or Hong Kong stations.

[edit] Entrances/exits

  • Trains from city: Departure level of airport (7/F)
  • Trains to city: Arrival level of airport (5/F)

Travellers who arrive at the Airport can immediately enter the terminal with any baggage they have and walk into the passenger terminal. No exit gates are provided.
