Airness is a footwear trademark founded in 1999, in Saint-Denis (France), by Malamine Koné.
Stade Rennais FC, FC Nantes Atlantique, Lille OSC, Valenciennes FC, Fulham F.C., Boavista FC and DR Congo have struck a new sponsorship deal with French sports brand Airness. Also the Belgian team K.R.C. Genk will play in an Airness outfit from the season 2006-2007 on. This way the company wants to introduce the brand in the Benelux.
The Fulham deal, which lasts for three years and represents the biggest agreement in the club’s history, will see Airness manufacture kits for the Premiership club.
-Added September 12, 06:
It is not clear as of now what will happen to that Fulham deal. Replica sales are key to any contract with a club and as of this date, and well into the season, very few fans have them; the first shipment having been turned back by Fulham for lack of quality.
In the opinion of many, the attempt to break into the UK market has failed and Fulham will sign with a different manufacturer for the next season.
