Airhead (candy)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Airheads are a popular candy manufactured by Perfetti Van Melle in Erlanger, Kentucky. They are a taffy-like candy that come individually wrapped in strips and weigh about 15.6 grams. The amount of sugar per bar is 9 grams.

Airheads come in a variety of flavors including cherry, watermelon, white mystery, green apple, strawberry, blue raspberry, and orange and sour versions as well. There are also other special edition flavors, including a SpongeBob flavor and a Spiderman flavor. Perfetti Van Melle sometimes produces limited edition flavors as part of promotions in partnership with other companies, such as Disney/Pixar's new movie, Cars. Airheads also come in fruit rolls, known as Airheads Xtremes.

Some people believe that the flavor White Mystery comes in different flavors such as cherry, watermelon, etc. The flavor of the White Mystery Airhead changes from time to time.

This Airhead brand also comes in rainbow belts, from boxes of candy strips quite different from the orginial. Flavors include strawberry.

Much like separating the two pieces of an Oreo cookie, a popular yet unorthodox way to eat an airhead is to hold one end of the package with ones fingers and flap the rest of the candy back and forth.[citation needed] This will eventually force all of the candy into one end of the package, making it easier to eat in one bite. When a person first bites an airhead it may seem hard. But soon, it will become as soft as bubble gum.
