Air Traffic are an English indie rock band from Bournemouth. Allegedly they used to practice in an abandoned aircraft carrier, where air traffic control signals would be picked up on their amplifiers, leading to their name.

Having signed up to EMI in July 2006, the band were noticed by radio DJ Steve Lamacq and recently have began to experience some mainstream success, their forthcoming single Never Even Told Me Her Name being played regularly on BBC Radio 1 and Kerrang! Radio [1].

Their music features heavy use of piano, and they have been described by NME to be like "Supergrass covering Little Richard".

They spent much of August and September 2006 in Monmouth, Wales, recording their music in a recording studio. Four of these tracks will be released as an EP on 30 October, which includes their second single Never Even Told Me Her Name. A music video has also been produced for this single by the company type2error, who also created videos for the likes of Paul Weller, Captain and The Rakes. [2]

The first single was released in July 2006 through the independent record label Label Fandango. 500 copies of the single were produced, all of which sold out within a few days of the release date. [3]

The band are currently on a UK tour, which ends on October 31.
