Air Nelson

Air Nelson is a regional airline based in Nelson, New Zealand. It operates services on provincial routes under the Air New Zealand Link brand. Its main bases are Tauranga Airport, Napier Airport, Nelson Airport, New Plymouth Airport, Wellington International Airport and Auckland International Airport.

The airline was established and started operations in 1979. It was founded by Robert Inglis and Nicki Smith who later sold the airline to Air New Zealand.
During October 2004 the airline announced that it was replacing its fleet of 17 Saab 340As with 17 Bombardier Dash 8 Q300 aircraft, with options for another 10 Dash 8 Q300 and 13 Dash 8 Q400 aircraft.

As of August 2006 the Air Nelson fleet includes:
- 17 Saab 340A
- 8 Bombardier Dash 8 Q300 (further 9 to be delivered) [1]
The Saab 340's are likely to be sold ot other airlines, including Regional Express in Australia.
