Aidan McAnespie (1965–21 February 1988) was an Irish Catholic who was killed in contested circumstances from a bullet discharged from a weapon in control of British soldiers at a border checkpoint during The Troubles in Northern Ireland.

Charges were initially brought against a soldier for manslaughter but were dropped prior to prosecution. McAnespie's family allege a cover-up by the British state.

The incident was investigated by both the RUC and the Gardai with no evidence of anything other than an accidental discharge being the cause of death [1].
