Distinguished Mathematician and currently, professor, Department of Decision Sciences and Management Information System, John Molson School of Business of Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec. Born in Pakistan, Shafaat completed both his undergraduate and graduate studies at the university of Punjab in Lahore and specialized in Mathematics. He later received his Ph.D in Mathematics from the Australian National University in Canberra in 1968. Following that he travelled to Canada and became a postdoctoral fellow at the university of Winnipeg in Manitoba. After spending some more time in teaching and researching at Laval University in Quebec and King Abdul Aziz university in Saudi Arabia, Shafaat moved back to Canada and settled in Montreal. A noted scholar in his own profession , Shafaat also specialized in Comparative Religon and has authored many books and pamphlets about Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. He is recognized by many as a Biblical theologian. With the collobaration of his intellectual partner Irshad Ahmad Ansari who specializes in Textual Criticism of the Bible, Shafaat also produced a very useful and critical study of the analysis of Mathiew 12:40, known as the Sign of Jona. Ahmad Shafaat and Irshad Ansari are considered by some as the leading Muslim scholars of Christianity and Judaism in North America; though they are not very well known in academic circles. Moroever, they are also the strong proponents of Dialogue and understanding between cultures. A web based author, Ahmad Shafaat also contributes to various Islamic topics.
