Ahmad Abdel-Al is a member of the sufi muslim group Al-Ahbash, and one of many suspects in the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, as per a report from the investigation headed by German Detlev Mehlis for the United Nations.

On the day that Rafik Hariri was killed, Ahmad Abdel-Al and his brother, Mahmoud, made a large number of phone calls to various officials believed involved in the assassination. Also called was Lebanese President Emile Lahoud.

As of October 20, 2005, the UN Security Council and involved diplomats are considering the report.
