Aguadulce, Panama

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aguadulce is an agricultural town in the Coclé province of Panama. It is the capital of a district in the province of the same name.

It is located on the Pan-American Highway, near but not on the coast on the Bahia de Parita.

Most of the land near Aguadulce is dedicated to agricultural use, much of it Sugar cane. The name of the town translates literally as "sweet water", though the phrase also means "fresh water" (as opposed to salt water), it seems more likely a reference to a source of fresh water than the sugar cane.

Aguadulce is the birthplace of major league baseball player Carlos Lee.
