Agoo is a 2nd class municipality in the province of La Union, Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 51,923 people in 9,945 households.

Its name is probably derived from "aroo" or "agoho" a pine-like evergreen tree that thrived in the western coast during the pre-Spanish Period.

The town is also known as "Puerto de Japon", wherein Spanish conquistadors from Mexico headed by Capitan Juan de Salcedo observed that Agoo was already a bustling port whrein Chinese, Japanese and native merchants ply their trade.
