Aglianico del Vulture

Aglianico del Vulture is an Italian red wine produced in the Vulture area of Basilicata. It was awarded DOC status in 1971 and is considered among the finest wines produced in Italy. Due to similarities in production methods and taste it is sometimes called the Barolo of the South.
Only the Aglianico grape may be used in making this wine.

- Color: ruby garnet red
- Taste: try and savoury taste
- Alcohol: 11.5 - 13 %
- Serving temperature: 17 - 18°C
- Goes very well with meats, especially roasts and wild game

Aglianico del Vulture DOC can be produced only in the following communes: Rionero in Vulture, Barile, Rapolla, Ripacandida, Ginestra, Maschito, Forenza, Acerenza, Melfi, Atella, Venosa, Lavello, Palazzo San Gervasio, Banzi, Genzano di Lucania.

Depending on the time of aging in barrique there are two qualities: vecchio after at least three years and riserva after at least five years.
