Agidel

Agidel, or Aghidhel (Russian: Агиде́ль; Bashkir: Ағиҙел; Tatar: Ağidel), is a town in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia, located at the border with Tatarstan. The name of the town derives from the Bashkir name of the Belaya River: Aghidhel River, a tributary of the Kama River, near the confluence of which the town is located. Agidel's geographical location is 55°54′N 53°56′E. Population: 18,721 (2002 Census).

Agidel was founded in 1980 as a settlement supporting the construction of the Bashkir nuclear power plant. Town status granted in 1991.

As of 2005, the head of the town's administration is Valery Yakovlevich Fyodorov.

After the Chernobyl events, people of Tatarstan are strongly opposed to construction of a nuclear plant near their republic border.

Russian rock group DDT (band) dedicated the song "White River" (Белая река), off their 1994 album "That is all" (Это всё), to the town of Agidel.
