[edit] Help with templates
I have been doing some work on vandalism lately, and I was wondering. Often, I'll see that other editors have warned somebody with a template, but the template specifically mentions what article they vandalized. What is the shortcut to do this? Thanks. Fleagle 23:45, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Warm welcome

[edit] Questions
Hello Ageo (or Ageo020, I don't know whether you like being referred to with the numerals or not). Thank you for saying hello to me. I have several questions. 1, is it better to use the letter b in brackets or six quotation marks to make things bolded? I assumed the former, but I see the quotation marks used more often on this website. 2, how many special prefixes are there? I have seen "Category:", "Talk:", "User talk:", and several others. Dunihav 18:26, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
I thought of a third question. How minor does an edit have to be to check of the "This is a minor edit" box? Dunihav 18:48, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks for the welcome
Like Remember the dot, I want to thank you for your welcome message.
I'm trying to draft an article. I'll be working on it on my user page for starters. Making sure that it is appropriate for Wikipedia and that it fits the NPOV policy will take some peer review--or, better, review by people who are my elders and superiors in Wikipedia. I've used Wp a lot, but this is my first effort to add anything to it. I think I made a donation too, once upon a time.
Question:
Why won't this link work right?
[http://www.eyrie.org/~eagle/faqs/usenet-hier.html managed hierarchies]
To my eye, it has the same form as:
I've tried substituting for the tilde and for the slashes (%7E and %2F), I've tried a pipe, I've tried a slash. No joy.
Hmm. I changed my preferences to a 128 column edit box. Now it seems to work OK.
DANG! I may have had a Hard Return in there, coming from the Dokuwiki site where I started drafting this article.
So, OK, nemmermind. :-)

[edit] Brookie here
Hi - I like the fresh look of your welcome note - what template is it and would you mind if I used it? Brookie :) - a will o' the wisp ! (Whisper...) 11:08, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- Great thanks for that - how do I edit a template or at least personalise it for me? Thanks Brookie :) - a will o' the wisp ! (Whisper...) 20:52, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks for your support at RFA
I wasn't going to send thank-you cards, but the emotional impact of hitting WP:100 (and doing so unanimously!) changed my mind. So I appreciate your confidence in me and my skills, and hope you'll let me know if I can do anything for you in the future. Cheers! -- nae'blis 22:40, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks very much - looks good! Brookie :) - a will o' the wisp ! (Whisper...) 05:48, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
Brookie :) - a will o' the wisp ! (Whisper...) has smiled at you! Smiles promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day better. Spread the WikiLove by smiling to someone else, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend. Smile to others by adding {{subst:smile}}, {{subst:smile2}} or {{subst:smile3}} to their talk page with a friendly message. Happy editing!
[edit] My RfA
Oh, the humanity!
I had my doubts about a second RfA, but even I couldn't have predicted the way it caught fire and inexorably drifted to the ground in flames, causing quite a stir on its way down. Still, it was encouraging to see the level of support and confidence. Thank you for yours, and I hope I'll still have it the next time around. Kafziel Talk 13:25, 29 November 2006 (UTC) |
[edit] RfA thanks
Thank you for voting in my RfA, I passed. I appreciate your input. Please keep an eye on me(if you want) to see if a screw up. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 16:41, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your signature
Any chance you can cut down the amount of markup language you use in your signature? It's really hard to edit after you, because it's hard to figure out where your comments end and your signature begins. User:Zoe|(talk) 20:53, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
- It's still six lines of code. Could you get rid of the background colors? User:Zoe|(talk) 21:00, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
- Cool, the new one's better. Thank you! User:Zoe|(talk) 21:00, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks!
Thanks for your support and your time spent considering my my RfA, which succeeded. It's nice to get some feedback on answers to the questions. I've got a lot to learn, and any advice is welcome as I learn to use the new tools. Thanks again, and forgive my use of this dorky message box :) -- Renesis (talk) 00:32, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
P.S. - I just had to come back to override the font on your talk page that overrides my default overriding font! ;) -- Renesis (talk) 00:34, 30 November 2006 (UTC) |
[edit] Starry family tree
Sukumari isn't an aunt of Shobana or Vineeth. They are however related as follows:
Sukumari and Shobana's father (Chandrashekar— brother of the Travancore sisters) are cousins.
Vineeth is Padmini's (Shobana's aunt) husband's brother's son.
Kinda confusing, eh? By the way, my source was this --thunderboltz(Deepu) 13:37, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you for voting
Thank you for voting in my RfA which at 51/20/6 unfortunately did not achieve consensus. In closing the nomination, Essjay remarked that it was one of the better discussed RfAs seen recently and I would like to thank you and all others who chose to vote for making it as such. It was extremely humbling to see the large number of support votes, and the number of oppose votes and comments will help me to become stronger. I hope to run again for adminship soon. Thank you all once more. Wikiwoohoo 20:01, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[edit] Signpost updated for December 11th.

[edit] Concordia Newsletter
Concordia is currently trying to relaunch. I, and all the members of the ex-council, wish to welcome new members to the group. We are a group who aim to promote remaining civil, in an environment where messages can easily be interpretated wrongly.
[edit] Help out now!
- Try and help people remain civil! Talk to them, and help them in any way possible. Do not be afraid to use the talk page.
- Give people the Civility Barnstar.
- Make and spread some Wikitokens so people know there are people to help if they want assistance.
- Add banners or logos to your userpage to show your support.
- Suggest some ideas! Add 'em to the talk page.
We are a community, so can only work though community contributions and support. It's the helping that counts.
[edit] Decision Making
The council expired one month ago, but due to the current position of the group the current council will remain until the position of the group can be assessed, and whether it would be sensible to keep Concordia going. For most decisions, however, it will be decided by all who choose to partake in discussions. I am trying to relaunch because of the vast amounts of new members we have received, demonstrating that the aims are supported.
If you wish to opt of of further talk-page communications, just let us know here.

[edit] My RfA
Ageo020, thank you for your support in my RfA which passed on 13th December 2006 with a tally of 49/10/5. I am delighted by the result and a little daunted by the scope of additional responsibilities; I shall be cautious in my use of the new tools. I am well aware that becoming an Admin is not just about a successful nomination, but a continuing process of gaining further experience; for this I shall welcome your feedback. Again, many thanks for supporting my RfA, feel free to contact me if you need any assistance. :-) David Ruben 03:21, 16 December 2006 (UTC) |
